Zanaflex Capsules® (tizanidine hydrochloride) Prescriptions
Zanaflex Capsules® (tizanidine hydrocloride) are available in 2 mg, 4 mg, and
6 mg strengths.
There is potential for a change in adverse events that can occur when patients are switched from Zanaflex Capsules® (tizanidine hydrochloride) to Zanaflex tablets or tizanidine tablets.1
- Zanaflex Capsules® (tizanidine hydrochloride) are not equivalent to Zanaflex tablets or tizanidine hydrochloride tablets.4
- Zanaflex Capsules® (tizanidine hydrochloride) are not AB rated.4
- Zanaflex Capsules® (tizanidine hydrochloride) and Zanaflex tablets exhibit different pharmacokinetics under fed conditions.5
- The pharmacokinetic differences that exist between Zanaflex Capsules® (tizanidine hydrochloride) and tablets can result in a change in onset of action or an increase in adverse events.1
Specify "Capsules" when prescribing Zanaflex Capsules® (tizanidine hydrochloride)
Substitution of Zanaflex Capsules® (tizanidine hydrochloride) should only be done after consultation with the prescribing physician. Please check all Zanaflex prescriptions to ensure the correct medication is dispensed to your patients.
